National Day of Action
A massive shout out to everyone who took place in our National Day of Action! There were events in London. Manchester, Preston and Newcastle – we’ve received loads of great feedback and have really put ourselves on the map!! It was definitely a challenge organising for the event and I would like to say a massive well done to supporters in Preston and Newcastle who didn’t have much support around them but put something on to raise the national profile of CaSWO, which is fantastic.
At our events we had speakers from United Voices of the World, Unite and Unison – a really broad showing from our unions which is amazing! CaSWO worked with loads of other organisation including Act of Inclusion, Keep Our NHS Public, People’s Assembly, People Before Profit, Hazards Campaign and various Trades Councils which has been excellent for further networking and wider solidarity.
I think this from Bile’s speech in London sums up the day nicely – ‘I think there are two viruses; Covid and the bosses who don’t see us; care workers, cleaners, domestics. But if we fight together across unions: UWV, Unison and Unite, then they will see us’ .
