Press statement: Sage Nursing Home strikers victory!
When workers strike – they win!
Massive victory for the United Voices of the World the union during Living Wage Week!!
The workers at SAGE nursing home in North London have been an inspiration for care and support workers across the UK and today their struggle has paid off!
Following the third round of strike action, the workers have secured a well-deserved pay rise. The care workers, domestic and maintenance staff will now receive the London Living Wage, resulting in a minimum pay rise of 11%, and all other staff a pay rise of 5% as of the 1st of December.
CaWSO are so proud of all the workers at SAGE. They have fought for their rights and dignity at work whilst maintaining professionalism and care for those they support. They have been the leaders of our movement and an example to us all.
This is the start. Care and Support Workers across the country deserve better and we will follow in the path forged by these courageous workers.
Solidarity and love to all the workers!
We look forward to fight alongside them until we win our end goal – a nationalised support service which provides quality care and support, a system where both workers and recipients of support have power and voice, a system which free for all and there when we need it.
In solidarity,
Care and Support Workers Organise
